The essential follow-up to the acclaimed Vintage Breaks, Disco Breaks features 101 authentic beats, breaks and fills from the disco era, recorded with a superlative level of old-school authenticity.
Chic, early Michael Jackson, Pointer Sisters, KC and the Sunshine Band, Edwin Starr, Barry White, Salsoul Orchestra, The Bee Gees and Earth Wind & Fire are the creative inspirations for this wide-ranging beat retrospective of the late '70s and early '80s.
A whole host of 'lost recording techniques' were resurrected to bestow unparalleled authenticity to the beats, including:
- triggering additional high-end audio content - like white noise - from the snare head to generate upper harmonics without hi-hat bleed,
- using many different clap recording techniques - including 'rubber glove' claps, two by four baton reinforcement, as well as layering with classic drum machins, like the Linn Drum,
- multitrack overdubbing additional parts - including hi-hats, for the 'That's the way I like it' double-hat approach
Once again, sample replay guru and Young Punx frontman Hal Ritson, and Dizzee Rascal's live drummer Alex Reeves are the creative forces behind this collection, pulling on their collective tracking experience and historical know-how - as well as a top kit selection that includes a rare array of drum hardware, vintage mics, pre-amps and unusual signal processors.
Although the pack is primed for drop&play application, spending time with the collection - cutting, slicing, and re-arranging - will yield significant rewards.
To this end, not only have we supplied the original 24-bit Wavs, but also Rex2 and Apple Loops for supreme flexibility.
Loops range from 2 bars to 16 bars, with many offered with variants (full, top etc), a smart collection of snare- and clap-only layers and a large number of pared-back fills.
If you're looking for fine, full-fat and copyright-free organic disco flavours to inject into house, indie-dance, nu-rave, nu-disco - even hip hop, breakbeat and chillout productions - then your journey ends here.
