Ian Boddy Waveforms

Waveforms is a series of sample libraries from Something Else Music Limited, the company run by renowned UK sound design guru Ian Boddy. Having produced samples since 1992, his work includes Ambient Volumes 1 & 2, Malice in Wonderland, Morphology, Analogue Sequencer Loops and Outer Limits for Zero-G and Transmission-X for Sample Magic. He has also provided patch and sample content for LinPlug, Camel Audio and Rob Papen Soundware. In his 28 year career as a recording artist, he has released over 30 solo and collaborative CDs. He runs the highly respected ambient music label DiN and composes library music for the UK's largest independent production music company DeWolfe. With such a wealth of experience Boddy has taken the natural step to release his sound designs independently. Marketed under the "Waveforms" banner and available solely as downloads, all libraries are comprised of 500-600MB of 44.1KHz, 24-bit Wavs.

Radiophonica is the first title in veteran sound design guru Ian Boddy's Waveforms series of sample libraries, featuring sounds inspired by the Radiophonic Workshop renowned for their early work on seminal TV shows as Doctor Who. The sounds are intended to have a nostalgic retro sci-fi character that will appeal not only to film and TV composers, but also those producing cutting-edge dance music. All sounds were produced and recorded directly from analogue hardware synthesizers. With the exception of careful EQ and compression, no other digital processing was used. All sounds are presented as 44.1KHz, 24-bit Wav files. For your convenience Native Instruments Kontakt 2 patches are also provided for each sample as well as audition programs for all the sounds in a single category where individual samples are mapped out one per key ascending from C1.

Airwaves is the second title in veteran sound design guru Ian Boddy's Waveforms series. All the sounds were recorded using a premium grade radio transceiver, providing atmospheric garbled voices, buzzing interference patterns and hidden morse code signals. To ensure maximum usability, the sounds are virtually untouched other than the use of careful EQ and compression to "clean up" the source material. All sounds are originally recorded in mono and in some cases have been further processed in stereo using an arsenal of top notch plug-ins to enhance and complement the mood and atmosphere. All samples are 44.1KHz, 24-bit Wav files. Native Instruments Kontakt 2 patches are also provided for each sample as well as audition programs for all the sounds in a single category where the individual samples are mapped out one per key ascending from C1.

Tired of the same old drum sounds? Lift your rhythm tracks to the next level with this collection of 1,000 hand-crafted analogue-sourced drum, percussion and one-shot hits. Drumalogue - the third title in analogue uber-God Ian Boddy's Waveforms series of sample libraries - is not just another collection of tired samples from vintage drum machines. Rather all the sounds are hand crafted by Boddy himself, with hits taken from vintage analogue synths and modular systems (and not a Roland box in sight!). Sounds run the full gamut, from thunderous and zappy bass drums, through crisp snares and hats to abstract synth hits, FX and glitched / industrial noizes. Sampled in a mix of mono and stereo, a selection are drenched in rare analogue effects from Boddy's vintage collection, including spring reverbs, bucket brigade delays and phaser/flangers. This all ensures a cornucopia of drums and percussion that can be used in virtually any style of production, from minimal house and techno, through breaks, to IDM, ambient, leftfield and more. All sounds are provided as 24-bit Wav files with accompanying kits and patches for Native Instruments' Kontakt player.

The fourth title in Ian Boddy's Waveforms series is a follow up to the best-selling Drumalogue, using raw analogue one-shot drums to build 300 all-new twsted beats, fed through Boddy's massive modular synth system. These are then filtered, mangled and messed up using a huge number of modules all in the analogue domain. All loops are offered with between 3 and 5 variations and sonically range from sweet filtering all the way through to completely crunched and twisted mayhem. The quality of the distortion and overdrive achieved using these techniques gives the loops a gorgeous organic feel which is further heightened by the sound of the modular itself with it's fuzzy warmness and tripping envelopes. All tempo-labeled loops are offered as 24-bit Wavs, as well as Rex2 loops and Apple Loops for full cross-platform compatibility. The following analogue synthesisers were used (but not hurt) during the making of this collection: - Roland System 100-M - Analogue Systems - Doepfer A-100 modular system - Analogue Solutions Livewire AFG, Vulcan & Dalek Modulators Metasonix TM-2 Tube BP filter & R-53 - Tube Waveshaper/Ring Mod - Flight of Harmony Plague Bearer - The Harvestman Malgorithm - WMD Geiger Counter - Make Noise QMMG - Minimoog - VCS3 - Master tempo & auxillary voltage control provided by MOTU Volta via MOTU 828 interface. Sounds were recorded using a TLAudio Ebony A2 tube stereo processor into an Apple Mac using the RME Fireface 400 audio interface. Analogue Workshop Volume 1: Distortion & FeedbackIan Boddy WaveformsSound FX2012-12-01

Renowned synthesis guru and sound designer Ian Boddy has been producing sample libraries since 1992. This includes award-winning collections for leading sample producers Zero-G and Sample Magic plus patch and sample content for Camel Audio, LinPlug and Rob Papen. With such a wealth of musical and sound design experience, Boddy decided to release his sample productions independently under the 'Waveforms' brand, which has already released four titles - Airwaves, Beatalogue, Drumalogue and Radiophonica. Waveforms delivers unique and focused sample packs, all produced using Boddy's collection of rare and vintage analogue equipment. Boddy has been hard at work in his sonic laboratory and the result is 'Distortion & Feedback', the first in the brand new series of 'Analogue Workshop' sound libraries. Each volume will focus in on one aspect of analogue sound design possible with modular and vintage synthesisers. Each of the 300 samples in Analogue Workshop Volume 1: Distortion & Feedback uses some form of either audio or control voltage distortion, feedback or general sonic ill treatment. A custom designed graphical interface has been scripted in Native Instruments Kontakt to provide even more variation and programming options. This is rounded off by a set of impulse responses for the convolution reverb, taken directly from analogue modules such as spring reverbs and bucket-brigade delays to further enhance the overall sound character. The sounds and patches included in this library range from earth shattering drones, twisted pads, piercing modulations and weird transmissions to eerily haunting feedback oscillations. The one-shot section contains a range of crunchy, nasty, throbbing short percussive sounds and FX that can be used to spice up any drum kit or add impact to key moments in a musical composition. There are over 500 Kontakt 4 format patches available which use the new custom designed GUI. They are grouped into two basic categories, raw and untreated. The GUI itself is split into two halves. The left containing the synth shaping controls whereas the right comprises an audio effects chain for maximum tweakability. Technical data: 300 samples at 44.1Khz, 24 bit in WAV format . Mixture of stereo & mono samples.
